Coy “Denver” Parton, the older brother of country music icon Dolly Parton, has died at age 82.

A family announcement confirmed that Parton died on July 23, 2026. The cause of death was not disclosed. He had been living in Sevierville, Tennessee, near the East Tennessee community where the Parton family has deep roots.

Denver Parton largely stayed out of the public spotlight, choosing a life centered on work, family, and the outdoors. He worked as a crane operator and helped build bridges during his career. He was also known for farming, hunting, and spending time in the rural surroundings he called home.

He is survived by two daughters, a grandson, Dolly Parton, and several other siblings. His death marks another loss for the large Parton family, which has remained closely connected to its Appalachian background over the years.

The family plans to hold a private memorial service. No additional details about the ceremony have been released.
