Charli XCX has officially unveiled her latest creative chapter with the release of Wuthering Heights, an original companion album to Emerald Fennell’s new film adaptation of the Emily Brontë classic. Arriving on Valentine’s Day weekend, the project marks a stark departure from the neon-lit club energy of her previous work.

Rather than serving as a traditional soundtrack, the 12-track album functions as a concept piece designed to exist within the “raw and gothic” world of the film. While the title inevitably draws comparisons to Kate Bush’s 1978 masterpiece, Charli’s work focuses on new compositions such as the haunting lead single “House” and the orchestral “Chains of Love.” The production, led by longtime collaborator Finn Keane, trades high-gloss chaos for a sound palette that Charli describes as both “elegant and brutal.”

This project marks a pivotal shift for Charli XCX, signaling her transition into a more cinematic and experimental era. By revisiting one of literature’s most intense stories, she joins a broader conversation about how classic themes of obsession and volatility can be reinterpreted for a modern audience. The result is a body of work that feels both ancient and futuristic, solidifying her place as one of pop’s most versatile voices.
